I am currently in my last semester as an undergrad at Western Illinois University. I will graduate in December 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in English and with a minor in communication. I'm taking "Writing for the Web" with Dr. Beardsley, which is the reason that this website exists. I'm taking five classes and soaking in my last semester as an undergrad. I've learned a lot about my field throughout my academic journey and plan to come back in the spring semester as a graduate student.
From a young age, I began to feel a strong desire to be as helpful as possible to everyone in my life. A lot of this came from my religious upbringing. I've been a Christian my whole life, and I hope others can see that side of me through my actions. My religious beliefs and mission to be helpful to others led to me becoming a Writing Consultant at the University Writing Center. I enjoy sharing my experience with English with others and giving them a little bit of the passion that I have for writing. Alongside my religious beliefs, I grew up writing a lot. Instead of drawing pictures, I wrote poems and little stories and stapled the pages together to make mini books. Choosing to get an English degree was a natural next step for me.
After receiving my bachelor's degree, I'm wasting no time in coming back in the spring to become a grad student! I have greatly enjoyed my time as a student and look forward to making a bigger impact in my field. I hope to gain a lot of experience that will serve me well in my future career. I would love to work in the copy editing field, but I'm open to anything as long as I can help others and do what I love.
